"Hey Babe (Drop It to the Floor)" is a vocal by American rapper Pitbull featuring T-Pain.[ane] It was released on September 14, 2010, as the lead single from Pitbull's 6th studio anthology Planet Pit.[ii] The vocal was written by Pitbull, T-Pain, and Sandy Vee; the latter is besides the producer.[3] The song samples a line from "Push It" by Salt-Northward-Pepa.

Critical reception [edit]

Amar Toor from Aol Radio Blog said that the song is "a pulsating rhythm and electrified beats, the track seems like it's tailor-made for Southward Embankment's hottest trip the light fantastic toe floors. [...] Pitbull's reggaeton roots are axiomatic throughout "Hey Baby", equally a persistent, pulsating beat keeps the vocal grooving along, from start to finish. And every bit always, T-Pain puts his own indelible, Machine-Tuned stamp on the song, every bit he croons, "Hey Baby – you tin can be my daughter I can be your man / And we tin can pump this jam however you lot want."[1]

Chart operation [edit]

"Hey Infant (Drop It to the Floor)" debuted at number 51 on the United states of america Billboard Hot 100 on the week of Oct 16, 2010.[iv] Four months afterward, the song reached it peak number seven on the nautical chart, giving Pitbull his third top ten hit.[5] This is T-Hurting'southward eighth top x as a featured artist, and thirteenth overall. As of May 2011, the single sold over two million digital copies in the United states.[vi] On October xvi, 2020, the single was certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for combined sales and streaming equivalent units of over three million units in the United States.[7]

Music video [edit]

According with an interview with Pitbull on MTV News, the music video was filmed in Miami and it was released onto Pitbull'south official VEVO channel on Nov 6, 2010. It features Pitbull and T-Pain at a club, along with scenes of girls in leather catsuits.[3] 2 of the girls are Nayer and Sagia Castañeda.

The video has received over 270 million views.[8]

The song is also featured in 1 of the trailers to the 2012 movie The Dictator.

In February 2011, Noy Alooshe used the music from "Hey Baby (Drop It to the Floor)" as the ground for Zenga Zenga, an auto-tuned song and viral YouTube video that parodies Libyan ruler Muammar Gaddafi.[9]
